Siklista Cycling Group of Houston - Promoting Fun, Fitness and the Love for Cycling

Siklista Cycling Group of Houston is a group of roadies that has a passion for cycling. We are based in Southeast Texas and most of our members are in Houston Area. We stress fun, fitness and group riding. We participate in many organized fun rides in SouthWest Texas; such as the annual MS150 Houston-Austin, McDonald’s Space Race, Tour de Houston, Century Shiner’s Bash Ride and recently the famed Hotter -N- Hell Ride in Wichita Falls, Texas. Occasionally, we will get together and venture out to Austin to ride The Lake Travis Loop, where total climb is 6,000 feet. Our weekly rides are posted as “Weekly Rides” and range in distances from 35 miles to 60 miles.
The cyling team is composed of two groups. The first group is very competetive. It’s motto is “See Ya at the Rest Stop”. Its cruising speed is at 22-23 miles/hr. But do not be fooled, sprints may go up to 30-33 miles/hr which usually happens at a designated location(s) or the end of the ride. If you enjoy the fast pace cycling then this is for you. However, if you feel that speed is too much for you, we have another group that leaves at the same time as well. The 2nd group cruising speed is less than 20 miles/hr. Many of the new members start out in 2nd group because it is not taxing on their legs. It is safe to assume that racing is not on this group’s priority. This group has two ride captains that are very experience. They are responsible for the behavior of the ride. They ensure that no one is left behind and your safety is their number one concern. Their objective is to mentor as well as coach less experience riders.
Whether you join the fast group or the not so fast group, our weekend rides promotes camaradie amongst cyclists. So if you ride regularly in the greater Houston area you are welcome to join our cycling team!!! So come out and experience the excitement of riding in rural areas of Southwest Houston. If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact our Team Director Joey Coz
